Christopher
J. Bribach's explorations of bio-mimetic architecture have
ranged from installations investigating chaos to the design of living
buildings.
Bribach
allows his projects to grow and change organically, introducing
the possibility for each structure to establish its own form and
natural rhythm.
Most
recently, Bribach is exploring the potential of fast-growing timber
bamboo as a structural building material. One such project, his
collaboration on New York City's Highline
re-design competition, combined principles of bio-dynamic gardening
and participatory design, enabling members of the local community
to create unique architectural plantings that allowed for programmatic
adaptation and spatial modification over time.
Bribach's
vision of buildings is inspired by the innovation of nomadic dwellings,
such as fiber weaving and the use of simple, local raw materials.
"The
design of our buildings as well as our cities can and will one day
embrace both the biological and spiritual aspect of being human."
- CJ Bribach
